It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of our dedicated leader, Angela Wilson. Angela had a true servant’s spirit and her commitment to the ACWR was evident in the many ways she strived to promote, strengthen and enhance the organization. Angela was elected as the Executive Director in 2023 and in one short year she instituted plans, processes and procedures that have placed the ACWR on a trajectory to realize growth and stability for many years to come. Angela truly believed in writing the vision and making it plain and she was determined to honor the legacy of her mother, Susie Doswell, by ensuring that the ministry of the ACWR continued.
Angela served the ACWR in many ways over the years, from the time of her youth until her passing. Just four short weeks before she went home to be with the Lord, she was providing training to the ACWR Advisory Board by encouraging us to celebrate the wins we had achieved while creating a vision for the future. Angela served the ACWR as President, Director of Communications and Director of the Music Ministry. Angela was also the recipient of the Magnolia Clark Lifetime Achievement Award. Angela was instrumental in creating the ACWR volunteer choir and praise team, which elevated the praise and worship component of the ACWR to ensure attendees had a worship experience that stirred the soul and brought honor and glory to God.
Angela was an esteemed playwright, receiving many awards and accolades for her work and productions as the founder and Executive Artistic Director of The Angel Wing Project, an organization committed to using the performing arts to uplift the community. Through her warm and giving nature and her commitment to follow the footsteps of Jesus, Angela spread love, joy, and encouragement to everyone who crossed her path. To know her was to love her and we are all better because of the blessing she was to each of us.
Angela was not only dedicated to serving her community and to the work of the Lord, she was equally dedicated to loving and caring for her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, cousin and friend. As much as her loss has impacted us, we know that it has left a hole in their hearts that can never be repaired. We pray for God’s comforting arms to envelope them at this time and we stand prepared to serve and uplift them during their time of grief.
Although our hearts and minds have difficulty understanding the loss of our dear Sister in Christ, we take refuge in the knowledge that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
II Corinthians 5:8
Rest well our dear sister! Till we meet again!
